Job Description

This is a year round position located in Pascagoula MS, reporting to the DDG 1000 Program Manager.

 

Salary Range will be $90,000 to $110,000.

 

The successful candidate will support the DDG1000 Planning Yard in the following areas of responsibility: 

  • Responsible for providing Oversight and Management of the newly established Home Port Office in Pascagoula MS.
  • Responsible for ensuring directly and timely communication between BIW PY and Navy (PMS 500, Supervisor of Shipbuilding and Ships Force) on all matters related to PY provided Services.
  • Ensure all issues identified and assigned to BIW PY during the execution of an availability are tracked and responded to in a timely manner.
  • Function as an integral member of the Program Managers Representative (PMR) Team in supporting all DDG 1000 Availabilities executed at Huntington Ingalls.
  • Work with DDG 1000 PY Management to ensure OSR staffing is adequate to support the level of activities on the Waterfront.
  • Ensure all GFM received from Maine for availabilities is turned over to the executing MSR and report results.
  • Provide a weekly status report for Availabilities in progress to the Program Manager.
  • Provide remote support to other BIW programs and functional areas (PSA, Fleet Services, New Construction) as required.

Required/Preferred Education/Training

  • Associate’s degree in a technical or business discipline preferred.
  • A solid Planning Yard background and understanding preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of DDG 1000 Class ships, along with experienced gained in a Navy waterfront maintenance environment preferred

Required/Preferred Experience

Experience (type and number of years): 

  • Minimum of 10 years of shipbuilding/technical experience with in-depth knowledge of Surface Combatants, Engineering, and design processes preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of collective experience in Marine Engineering or Design, USN or Command Fleet Lifecycle Support in the areas of maintenance and repair required.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in a fast-paced waterfront environment in managing BIW responsible work completion.

  • Must be able to effectively manage priorities and meet schedule demands.
  • Strong computer, oral, written, analytical and interpersonal skills, coupled with an ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team.
