Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineer, Geologist, or Scientist to grow and lead our Mobile, AL or Gulfport, MS office. The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of experience in a "sell-manage-do" consulting culture plus a focus on civil/stormwater design, environmental remediation, ecological restoration for coastal, and/or natural resource projects for industrial, commercial, local, state, and federal government clients in the Coastal Alabama and Mississippi Area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    Assisting in the expansion of Geosyntec's practice in Mobile, AL and/or Gulfport, MS;
  • Contributing to new business development by identifying project pursuits, supporting positioning efforts, developing winning strategies and ideas, and preparing proposals;
  • Collaborating with other lead practitioners to position for, win, and deliver new projects, and to cross-sell the Firm's environmental and engineering services;
  • Mentoring staff in technical competency, project delivery, quality management, health and safety, and client service;
  • Providing technology leadership in the areas of environmental engineering/science or civil engineering focused on the areas of stormwater, water quality improvement, aquatic ecology, ecosystem restoration, regulatory compliance for diverse water resource-related projects (e.g., urban development, ecosystem restoration, harbor maintenance dredging, etc.); and
  • Providing outstanding client service and building and maintaining strong client relationships that result in repeat business.
  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants
  • Fieldwork: As needed by project.
  • Overnight travel: Up to 20%
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or geotechnical engineering; geology; or ecology, biology, or other related natural sciences. (required)
  • Advanced degree in civil, environmental, or geotechnical engineering; geology; or ecology, biology, or other related natural sciences. (preferred)
  • Professional licensure (engineer, geologist, or applicable) in Alabama, Louisiana, and/or Mississippi. (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 8 years (10+ preferred) of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Demonstrated strong interest to help grow and build a business in the Gulf Coast. (required)
  • Proven track record in client development and management. (required)
  • Strong oral and technical writing skills. (required)
  • Demonstrate a thorough working knowledge and project experience related to federal and state regulations and permitting (i.e. Clean Water Act, Rivers and Harbors Act, etc.). (preferred)
  • Ability to obtain OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
