Huntsman is seeking an Electrical Specialist supporting the Performance Products Division located in Conroe, TX. This position will report to Mechanical Supervisor.

Position Summary

  • Assist and work with electrical group on scheduled and repair work as needed.
  • Provide technical support to electrical technicians, planning and scheduling, engineers, and operations.
  • Interface with maintenance scheduling/planning resources to support PM and daily planned activities to ensure efficient scheduling of electrical resources.
  • Maintain electrical maintenance procedures and function as Job Instructor Trainer (JIT) for electrical craftsmen.

As the Electrical Specialist, you will:

Works on Tools

  • Utilize schematics, hand tools, and test equipment to troubleshoot and maintain all electrical equipment, and associated communications including motor starters (480 / 4160), VFDs, transformers, motors, etc.
  • Secures electronic copies of all programs on electrical test equipment, variable speed drives, PMS system, and protection relays in the plant.
  • Install/modify conduit, fittings, wiring, and associated electrical equipment in an industrial plant setting. Design/plan layout and installation of electrical wiring and fixtures based on assigned job scope.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections of electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify defects and make repair actions as needed.
  • Participate in the call-out rotation as needed.

Planning and Scheduling

  • Assist planning/scheduling team with development of electrical repair plans and review for technical validation.
  • Assist planning team with specifying and ordering materials needed for work order execution.
  • Configuration of maintenance plans/items in SAP as needs arise for ongoing plant activities.
  • Manage spare parts logistics related to EHS-Critical, production critical, and general plant electrical equipment.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, scheduling, and planning to effectively execute PMs on time and accurately.
  • Review and participate in the development of Preventative Maintenance (PM) and IPLs (electrical) as they are identified through project activities and plant initiatives.

Technical Support

  • Provide technical support and act as resource for Operations, Electrical Engineers, Maintenance, HSE, Capital Projects and Turnaround to achieve our site strategy.
  • Provide data & feedback to Electrical Engineers and Maintenance Supervisor to help drive reliability improvements to site's electrical infrastructure.
  • Participate in Process Hazard Analysis and incident investigations.
  • Advise electrician craftsmen with daily activities as needed. Supports electrical maintenance personnel with advanced troubleshooting of complex electrical control strategies.
  • Assist Project Engineering, design group, and others on electrical equipment selection per plant standards. Provide installation advice and attend project meetings as required.
  • Interface with process control engineers, SIS engineer, and maintenance to execute complex testing of control loops and various safety functions as it relates to electrical equipment. This may include test plan execution support during project start up and plant turn arounds. Collect/review maintenance field notes to ensure tests are completed thoroughly and accurately. Collaborate with SIS engineer and/or test plan writer to improve test plan efficiency, accuracy, and content.

Procedure Development and Training

  • Develop/Update procedures and maintenance practices for sitewide electrical systems.
  • Function as JIT for plant electricians to ensure technical skills and qualifications are maintained current. Coordinate/Manage qualification testing, records, and test scheduling.
  • Provide instruction during technician training sessions as applicable.
  • Train craftsmen on new policies and procedures. Documents verification of understanding.
  • Ensure self and craftsmen are current with CBT training, NEC changes, continuing education.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School or Associates degree in the Electrical field with 10+ years of experience in:
    • Industrial/Electrical maintenance.
  • 5+ years of experience in a petrochemical or refining facility.
  • Texas Electrical Journeyman License

Skills and knowledge

  • Working knowledge of electrical systems (480V / 4160V) and instrumentation is desired.
  • Maintain the technical knowledge to provide guidance to electricians.
  • Troubleshooting skills in electrical equipment: motor starter controls, relay logic, VFDs, etc.
  • Working knowledge/understanding of electrical schematics and 1-line diagrams.
  • SAP familiarity is preferred.
  • DCS and PLC experience is desired.
  • Presences kills in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extra hours if needed. If applicable, ability to work overtime may be needed to ensure required staffing capacity to meet daily production objectives.
  • Collaboratively skills with team members with different backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Assists other employees in accomplishments of Huntsman company goals. Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
  • Willingness in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company. Participates in and completes company-required training programs.
  • Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs.
