Job Purpose

The HR Generalist coordinates employee benefit administration, ISO responsibilities and plant-wide employee relations as well as maintains leave of absence, unemployment claims, payroll and time and attendance administration. Supports positive environment, engaged associates, union free status, and communications. The generalist supports the Human Resources Manager in strategic policy development and implementation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Regular in-person attendance with on time arrival/departure. Required to work irregular hours on short notice. Punctuality and dependability are a job requirement.
  • Consistently demonstrates a high level of professional behavior and emotional maturity.
  • Ability to correctly interpret and apply company policies; provide timely, accurate responses to employee inquiries.
  • Processes changes and maintains vendor contact to investigate discrepancies and provide information as needed.
  • Conduct legal, effective investigations as assigned.
  • Implement and maintain positive employee policies and communications to support plant union free status. Promote positive associate relations and an engaged workforce
  • Support consistent, equal and fair treatment of all employees.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of confidential employee files, information, records and reports.
  • Maintain/update employee information in HRIS systems.
  • Assist with annual benefit enrollment.
  • Participates in HR staff meetings and attends other meetings as required/scheduled.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations/laws.
  • Effectively respond to unemployment claims and represent company in hearings.
  • Administer the HR ISO responsibilities; will issue all training records in a timely manner, and maintains ISO training files. Participate in audits (internal, facility, and ISO).
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions supplied in both written and verbal format. Ability to prioritize.
  • Coordinate production associate leave of absence and short term disability program.
  • Participate in EOS Program, (i.e. creating Acct. tags, act as a backup to the HR Manager to complete MDI Boards, etc. )
  • Participate on the Safety Team, (i.e. participation in the Weekly safety audits, etc.)
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's Degree in HR Management, Labor Relations or related field from an accredited institution. Six years of progressive HR experience in lieu of degree. Experience with leave management, applicant tracking systems, HRIS systems and online recruitment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Five years of human resource experience in a manufacturing facility; master's degree in human resources, business or related field. PHR, SPHR, or SHRM SCP, CP. Payroll and leave administration experience is a plus.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: PHR, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP preferred.
